Inconvénients
Below are statements I heard during the recruiting process with Prodigy that taught me to be more thorough in my research while looking for a job : -‘We are not a company, we are a family’ : Red Flag! Management has no boundaries, no filter, will allow bad language, sexist comments, and inappropriate attitude and try to cover it up with offering fun group activities to hide the fact that they overstepped and were disrespectful before. Which leads me to my second point. -‘pizza party’ : Red Flag! The company often buys food for the team, usually after an outburst of anger or frustration from a manager to ‘buy out’ the silence of others. I regularly witnessed them getting angry at a client or employee, raising their voice or swearing. Which is unacceptable and unprofessional. -‘our employees need to be able to perform under pressure and with tight deadlines’ : Red Flag! Their micromanagement style is very toxic, their accounting system and administrative system is from a Paleolithic era, so scattered (still using physical copies of invoices, which they regularly loose), they are cheap and do not want to buy enough licenses for everybody to work efficiently, they offer no feedback whatsoever despite several requests, they do not communicate about performance and how it is evaluated… the pressure mentioned is due to their obvious and severe lack of organization and communication. Deadlines shouldn’t be tight if projects were planned ahead efficiently. But that is not what’s happening here. - They advertise a work/life balance that is in reality inexistent: they promise a hybrid schedule to allow every employee to work safely, but refuse to implement it because they’re too far behind in processing admin tasks. I never worked one day from home, and when I mentioned it was one of my pre requisites that I was clear about during the recruiting process, I was told that it wouldn’t work anymore and that I had to adapt and take one for the team. They changed my job description twice in 6 months and provided no feedback or training for it. To summarize, it is a very toxic work environment, where passive-aggressive attitude is common, where outburst of anger and inappropriate behaviour are not few, and where constructive feedback never happens. In one word : Run!
