Avantages

Finding a job in Finland as a foreigner without speaking Finnish can be challenging. Management Events provides numerous opportunities for young graduates and international professionals to gain valuable work experience.

Inconvénients

In my experience, management at Management Events is largely ineffective and fails to build long-term, positive relationships with employees. For example, the company operates in about 10 European countries, but management insists on a single, uniform approach across all markets, failing to adapt to the specific cultural and operational needs of each country. This inflexibility creates significant pressure, particularly at the entry level, and fosters a top-down culture where management places unreasonable demands on their teams, especially in emerging markets. The management culture prioritizes meeting targets at all costs, often sacrificing employee well-being, adaptability, and work quality. Many top managers have spent their entire careers at Management Events, limiting their exposure to diverse perspectives and best practices from other organizations. This perpetuates a system focused on quantity over quality. The relentless focus on targets fosters a highly competitive and stressful work environment, both within teams and across markets. Employees frequently feel overwhelmed, with collaboration discouraged in favor of individual performance metrics. This toxic atmosphere contributes to high turnover rates. For example, nearly half of the staff in the Helsinki office changes annually, with most employees staying only 1–2 years before seeking better opportunities. The company heavily relies on hiring young graduates and international workers who often feel compelled to accept lower salaries and subpar working conditions due to limited job options. Advice If you are new to Finland or a recent graduate and this is one of your few options, it may serve as a stepping stone to gain initial experience. However, if you have other opportunities, I strongly recommend exploring those first. The demanding environment and lack of employee support at Management Events are unlikely to benefit you in the long term. If you do decide to work here, approach the role strategically: focus on building transferable skills, growing your professional network, and treat the experience as a stepping stone toward better opportunities.
