    Avantages

Strong company going through some changes at the time. Good international presence, training was solid, well known in the industry.

    Inconvénients

Rigid structure and very protective middle management functions. Little adaptability to change in the industry based on a respectable past success - but this is a weakness not a strength

    Avantages

    Inconvénients

Lots of red tape, pay is usually below industry average, hard to move up unless management likes you personally.

    Avantages

An overall great atmosphere and the Social Committee keeps the staff interactive. For a large corporation the staff are very friendly. Salary is competitive.

    Inconvénients

The premium coding system is confusing. Heavy workload.

    Conseils à la direction

Consult with the Underwriting Assistants and find out what their issues are. Treat them as equals. It will help morale.

J'ai travaillé chez Liberty Mutual Insurance en Contrat Permanent (Pendant plus de 10 ans)

    Avantages

Salaries are competitive with other insurance companies

    Inconvénients

Lays offs, lay offs, and more lay offs. Good luck trying to get promoted. They take it being a great place to get promoted, but it is nearly impossible.

    Conseils à la direction

Step out of your cave or office every now and then and actually talk to your employees. There are good people trying to get promoted only to be turned down by people with far less skills. I worked for LM for over ten years.

    Managers that help you succeed.
    Great pay.
    Awesome Benefits.
Flexibility in getting time off--all time off is paid unless you choose not to use your given hours, but you are given hours every month that bank up
Recognition points that can be used to buy things (Something I have used my points for: Clothes, Designer bags, hotel rooms, appliances....)
Choice to work from home after 6 months.

    Inconvénients

It can be stressful at times but what job isn't. I am surrounded by team members & supervisors that want to see me succeed.

J'ai travaillé chez Liberty Mutual Insurance en Contrat Permanent (Plus d'un an)

    Avantages

My direct Supervisor was incredible caring and helpful
Pays better than most call centers
Lots to learn about the insurance agency

    Inconvénients

    It is a call center
    Poor communication from upper management
They don't give you all the tools to succeed at your job

    Conseils à la direction

Give us more information and upgrade your network. Spaghetti code from 2001 doesn't work for what you ask.

    Désapprouve le PDG

Je travaille chez Liberty Mutual Insurance à plein temps (Pendant plus de 5 ans)

    Avantages

Decent pay (base and bonus). Flexible work arrangements - can work from home 1-2 days a week (if in the right department). Nice campus and location in Boston. Good opportunities for a 1st job out of college, esp in an analyst role

    Inconvénients

No strategy. Becoming a top 3 P&C Insurer is not a strategy. Re-orgs are not a strategy either.

Reorgs are constant, and the CEO is dismissive of the change fatigue of the employees. Layoffs are non-stop, no one is ever secure in their jobs. People are constantly let go, or forced to reapply for their positions. Some went through 3 job eliminations in the last 3 years.

No regard for subject matter expertise or business results - executives promoted from within for being agreeable and politically savvy. That breeds further 'yes man' culture and zero forward momentum.

HR is a joke - allows for employees to be disposable, and fosters a terrible culture. The best talent is leaving (from executives to analysts) and no one seems to care a bit.

The company has lost its soul - only 2-3 years ago it was a decent place with decent people. The CEO and his top lieutenants are to blame.

    Conseils à la direction

No matter how many rewards you get for being "best place to work", you need to know that the ship is sinking. You need to look way deeper and figure out how to listen to uncomfortable truths, not just your 'yes' people.
