J'ai travaillé chez K12 à temps plein plus de 5 ans

    Avantages

    Working from home, computer supplied

    Inconvénients

Workload is hideously uneven--often there is way too much to do, and the message from above is suck it up and do it. Rising in the ranks can depend on who you're friends with. Pay is bad, but cost of benefits is even worse.

    Conseils à la direction

Don't treat teachers as if they're disposable.

J'ai travaillé chez K12 à temps plein plus de 10 ans

    Avantages

    - Amazing people with a true love for students - A great mixture of educators and business folk - Handles the balance of a for-profit company in the non-profit sector very well - Has no tolerance for anything illegal or misleading - Top leadership is experienced and respected in the field of education

    Inconvénients

    - They've lost their innovative edge over the years - There is a tendency to apply solutions without fully understanding the problems - In an attempt to be agile, there's often not enough time provided to fully try out and implement new ideas - Experience and institutional knowledge is no longer valued or respected - Yearly (sometimes more often) reorganizations prevent consistency in programing and progress - When...

    Conseils à la direction

    - Messaging from the top is important, but just saying something is so doesn't make it so. You really need to consider a different product solution for the differing needs of kids. - Stop with the constant reorganization. - Show more respect to employees - there's a constant barrage of veiled criticism of middle management that they just aren't trying hard enough - Pay teachers more

J'ai travaillé chez K12 à temps plein plus de 3 ans

    Avantages

Easier classroom management and way less bullying than at brick-and-mortar schools; can wear whatever you want from the waist down (jeans, shorts, flip-flops)

    Inconvénients

WAY OVERLOADED with number of students assigned to you (try at least 30-35 IEPs while also being in class and in meetings for the majority of the day); most sped teachers at FLCCA will tell you they work anywhere from 10-18 hrs PER DAY and 8 on weekends and are still drowning. Most of them beg for more time to help their students with special needs, yet the administration refuses to egg knowledge their need for more...

    Conseils à la direction

Although your schools are for profit being that K12 is a for-profit company, it still would be nice to make your teachers feel valued and appreciated. Then maybe you would have less turnover. It would also be super nice if you actually cared enough about the students to hire more teachers so that quality learning can actually take place. If you treat your teachers and students/family as well, then you would not constantly...

J'ai travaillé chez K12 à temps plein plus de 3 ans

    Avantages

My Team was great to work with & I actually had an amazing boss. Both the Corporate office staff & school educators are passionate about their jobs. True life long educators in the school's leadership.

    Inconvénients

Total & regular disconnect between the Corporate office's vision/program and the execution or implementation out in the field. K12 grew at such a rapid rate, without all the infrastructure to support the massive expansion.

J'ai travaillé chez K12 à temps plein plus de 5 ans

    Avantages

Highly experienced staff and educators are teaching the students and earning the company money. Students come back each year for their teachers, however, k12 only sees each student as a dollar sign. They don’t care why students return or leave as long as they’re making their profit gains. Most students return because of the relationships they’ve established with their teachers. Pay them!

    Inconvénients

They waste and spend more money on staff travel expenses, hotels, meals, flights, etc. than they do on actual staff salaries and benefits. 401k match is a joke. No student loan forgiveness as a teacher because k12 is a “for-profit” company. This job is marketed toward stay-at-home-moms who want to still work and raise their kids without having to use daycare. If you’re single and trying to support yourself, you’re better...

    Conseils à la direction

Wake up CEO’s and President! Without teachers engaging your students (dollar signs), you wouldn’t have a company! Stop wasting money on unnecessary expenses and pay teachers what they deserve! Your employees are constantly looking for something better because it’s what they deserve!
