Great place to work, difficult internal mobility
Avantages
I worked for Fox Sports for almost two years as a Producer and Editor. My role was part time, and I did it at the same time as other concurrent full-time roles. It was stable and I enjoyed the team I worked with throughout.
Inconvénients
I found it difficult to find internal mobility within the department or company. Despite proving myself as reliable and talented, there seemed no way to navigate to other roles within the company, even with a supportive manager. Additionally, when the compensation question arose, there was no way to increase my hourly rate or any other compensation benefits, despite having proven myself. With the part-time, contractor model, there are no ways to increase compensation except for working more hours, and no internal recognition for a job well done. The part-time contractor model is common and used to lower Fox's overhead, but it proves limiting for the workers.
