Senior Java Fullstack Developer (Java / React / AWS)

Position Type: 6 months contract
Location: Downtown Toronto, ON, Hybrid 3 days/week in-person
Compensation: CAD 65-75/hour

Our client is an innovative technology organization developing modern software solutions for the financial services industry. They are seeking a Senior Fullstack Developer to join a collaborative Agile team responsible for building scalable on-premises and cloud-native applications.

This is an opportunity to work with modern technologies including React, Java, Kotlin, Spring Boot, Node.js, AWS, and Docker, while contributing across the entire software development lifecycle. The ideal candidate enjoys working beyond a single specialty and is passionate about building high-quality software in a collaborative environment.

What You'll Do

• Develop and enhance full-stack applications using modern technologies
• Design and implement new features for enterprise document management and services
• Build responsive front-end applications using React and Redux
• Develop scalable backend services using Java, Kotlin, Spring Boot, Hibernate, and Node.js
• Participate in Agile ceremonies including Sprint Planning, Daily Standups, Reviews, and Retrospectives
• Perform peer code reviews and promote software quality best practices
• Design and implement unit, integration, system, performance, and load testing
• Deploy and maintain applications within AWS cloud environments
• Collaborate closely with developers, QA engineers, product owners, and architects
• Contribute to deployment automation and continuous improvement initiatives
• Help evolve the team's technology stack and engineering practices

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline
• 5+ years of professional software development experience
• 5+ years of experience with Java, Spring Framework / Spring Boot, Hibernate, Node.js, React and Redux
• 3+ years of experience deploying and supporting applications in AWS
• Experience with Docker and containerized applications
• Strong understanding of Agile software development methodologies
• Experience working with relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred)
• Basic PL/SQL knowledge
• Comfortable programming in Python
• Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and performance optimization skills
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Most candidates will start at the bottom half of the pay range, with the upper end reserved for candidates with extensive experience and skills and who live in geographic markets commanding a higher starting pay.
