In fact, many consultants are given the option to self manage if they prefer. Ultimately the support/management teams are there to support and help you succeed rather than fail. The culture is very much centred around trust and there are various other things you can champion in your role (blogs, marketing, leadership etc). All in all the pros working for Stopgap are many.
