Avantages

Rokt was a fun place to work mainly because of the people. Additionally, it was a great learning curve as you were expected to wear many hats and because of that, I learned a lot. The events that were had (ie. global kickoff, EOQs etc) were a lot of fun albeit a little wild given the personalities of people at the company. However I do think these were a great way to get to know coworkers from around the globe.

Inconvénients

The largest issue I have to say is with management. As other reviews have mentioned, these mid level managers are more often than not people who have been with the company since the beginning and have no idea how to manage, and have no business being a manager. Even with training some people don’t have the personality for management and there are a number of them still at Rokt to this day, regardless of their behavior, they are kept because Rokt can’t afford to lose their knowledge base of the company and product. There is also definitely a game of favorites that is played within upper management. One of the most frustrating things at Rokt was the fact that if the CEO thought a product change was a good idea, we would all have to pivot to the new change whether or not we agreed. The largest issue with this was the fact that it effected the campaigns we were running, and we then had to deal with this fallout with clients. Rokt is a work hard play hard mentality and those who work 8 hour days are looked down on because they aren’t working hard enough. They also pay people the same based on the job title, however, compared to other roles in similar companies the salary is quite low.

We thank you for your feedback. Your experience appears very different to what we hear more generally - our most recent employee survey showed that over 85% of our people managers received very high management effectiveness ratings from their respective teams. In addition, our internal surveys tell us 90% of our Rokt’stars would recommend Rokt as a great place to work. We are disappointed to hear that you have experienced favoritism at Rokt. Please note that this goes against our core beliefs as we are a data led organization. Among many things, we publish all salaries and benefits for every person in the benefit to ensure that all rewards and incentives are based on transparent objective outcomes. We’ve established processes to protect against favoritism, to name one: our performance reviews happen four times a year and are calibrated by other people leaders. This is intended to ensure that development and performance appraisals involve a wide range of input rather than a single manager’s perspective. In addition, all hiring decisions require 2-up review and an executive from outside your department doing a final ‘bar raiser’ interview. Like a lot of rapidly growing companies we promote quickly and sometimes this means we sometimes have new leaders in leadership positions. We recognize this and therefore invest a lot in training and development. Progressing and staying in these leadership roles is based on performance (as rated by the team) not favoritism, ethnicity, gender or country or origin. We appreciate your feedback and wish the best of luck in your future endeavours.

Avantages

The paycheck was on time. The infrastructure didn't get in my way technically.

Inconvénients

•Ideas I brought up in meetings were routinely dismissed, only to see the exact same ideas approved weeks later when repeated by someone within the inner circle. •Meaningful projects consistently went to those already tied into the right connections, and it was clear capability had little to do with it. •Real mentorship and guidance existed, but it happened in closed conversations I was never part of, while others received constant support from senior engineers. •Key decisions were made in small informal groups, and I would only learn about them after everything had already been decided. •I was repeatedly assigned lower visibility infrastructure work while others were given opportunities to grow through impactful projects.
