Avantages

I have been working here for a number of years and could not be more pleased with the work-life balance this company has afforded me. The flexible schedules, outstanding benefits packages, and competitive salaries have made this a great place to work. I have learned A LOT since I first began working here, and have received constant support to continue growing in my field. The President has a genuine care for the well-being of the people that work for this company. Having worked at a very large company prior to this one, this is extremely refreshing.

Inconvénients

I do not have any "Cons" to list.

Avantages

As a small company, each employee carries a lot more weight than in a typical workplace. You get exposure to many different technologies and are constantly given new things to learn. The work itself is extremely rewarding and you actually feel like you're doing something worthwhile, which is largely different from all of the other defense contractors I've worked for. Although the first several months were among the most stressful I've ever experienced, I learned more about Linux, networking, and systems in general in those few months than I have in the entirety of the rest of my 10+ years working in IT. The workplace is highly collaborative despite the largely remote environment. The senior engineers were patient and took time to really mentor me on all of the different technologies and processes. They allow you to use your sick time for parental leave and are flexible in allowing remote work when needs arise. Roka gets invested in employees, highlighted by the fact that they try to find alternative working opportunities for (valuable) employees who have to leave the immediate area whatever reasons.

Inconvénients

The smaller size of the company means interpersonal conflicts have more of an effect. This is not a job for the typical defense contractor that is accustomed to getting paid just to obtain/retain certs and turn knobs. You really have to work, so those that do thrive and those that don't won't last. That's not really a con, just an appeal to the few honest workers left.
