Great benefits, great job if you’re new- you get paid well fast. They pay was good until the economy tanked.
Inconvénients
Once you’re in, the county doesn’t do much to help retain employees. New people get pay increases, they will pay more for you to attend the academy- if you have time on they give you no increase in pay. They care more about hiring new people than retaining who they have, so people are leaving. Mandatory overtime is insane- working 3-4 additional days a week because we are short staffed, they keep saying “help is in the way.” Working 16 hour days because we are short staffed. Management gets upset when we don’t work overtime because we’re burned out. They just expect us to give up our lives outside of work to be at work 90% of the time. People are burned out.
