Avantages

They hire people without college degrees. Good single person health coverage.

Inconvénients

If you have a college degree, there's no value here. They pay very poor, below industry average. Poor respect if not favorited by owner. Owners expressive political opinions often and vocally (extreme right wing). They also overwork you, took a couple ex employees to sue before they paid overtime (used to work 80 hour weeks for the low wages of a 40 hour week).

Avantages

Very talented group of professionals with a vast knowledge of the broadcast industry specific to sports graphics. Awesome opportunity to learn from the best and learn new technologies almost before they come to the vast market.

Inconvénients

No training department, sink or swim environment. Probably fairly common when it comes to the technology field.

Avantages

Casual environment with free snacks and coffee. Variety of "big name" clients to work with. Awesome people to work with. You get to travel, which can sometimes be a bad thing. Occasional catered lunches and BBQ's. Decent health benefits.

Inconvénients

If you are looking to grow your career, stay far away. Anything you do at this company is specific to TV broadcasting only. There isn't much you can learn here to take with you on your career. You will basically be doing a subset of VBScript that is very limited and only applies to the Viz graphics engine. There is no formal training for this. Don't let management fool you and fill your head when they say you should be "privileged" to be able to work with these big name clients. As a software engineer, other jobs could care less what clients you worked for. They want to know what work you actually did for them. Which, for this company, will more than likely not apply elsewhere. Save yourself the time and find a job that will teach you real world skills. Any other skills you can learn here, you will have to teach yourself.
