Avantages

Due to the flexibility and programming hours, this role was suited for students or anyone that had other commitments. The organization is a non-profit and it's main focus was to provide quality after-school technology based programming to youth in at-risk communities. At the end of the day, everyone working for OpenWorld Learning was there to make a difference and impact in the community.

Inconvénients

Because the organization is a non-profit, funding was based on donor relationships and grants. This did not allow for staff to move into leadership positions as easily. Staff had a high turnover rate because of limited funding and the inability to provide compensation for highly dedicated staff.

Avantages

Supportive staff, great kids, interesting and ongoing paid training.

Inconvénients

Teachers only work a few hours a week, which is great if you're a student but hard if you don't have supplemental income.

Avantages

Working to ignite a love of learning with 3rd-8th grade students after school teaching digital technology is great. The staff are passionate about this goal, and its great to work with such a dedicated team.

Inconvénients

As with all non profits it would be great to offer more competitive pay rates and better benefits.
