The working environment is toxic and cutthroat. The directors want to take credit for projects that they didn’t work on, while finding ways to shift the blame for failed projects to others. VPs and directors that manage technical teams have little or no technical knowledge but refuse to trust the experts they hired . They look to hire white people with vision over minorities with demonstrable technical skills. They treat off shore engineers as disposable assets, so when a project fails because of their poor direction they can blame the engineers and remove them. Everyone thinks their project is the most important, but no one at the top has enough understanding to properly prioritize work and make sure that things are done correctly. There are a small number of people who do the actual work and many people who create roadblocks. This is leading to higher turnover and unsustainable teams.
