      Avantages

      Got to live and work in Japan and travel the Kansai area a little.

      Inconvénients

      Forced to take on T1 role at two schools with no background in teaching. BOE refused to uphold my contract as me being an assistant not the primary teacher, lesson planner, and make all the materials for 6 grades at two schools. Additionally I was not allowed to use any of my time off even over breaks when students aren’t there.

      Avantages

      JETs have support from CLAIR , their Board of Education, and local AJET chapters. CLAIR provides training, orientations, and even funding for teaching certifications.

      Inconvénients

      Some ALTs co-teach actively and feel valued; others get stuck reading from a script. Your school, co-workers, and Board of Education make a big difference.
