Inconvénients
The website advertised that "GRSM would help you climb your success ladder." Additionally, the website advertised that employees would "learn from talented colleagues. You’ll get a sense of our training culture at every level and see by example how to acquire new skills and develop your career." The "training" did not help me evolve as a paralegal. Apart from new hire onboarding, the only training that was put in place was to relieve the legal secretarys for when the secretarys did not want to come into the office (by virtue of working from home). Alternatively, if the secretarys took Paid Time Off, the "training" would allow me to become a secretary and cover their work (which no paralegal signs up for). Also, when I brought concerns to the management, I was met with mood swings, hostility, and defensive attacks. Also, I felt that there was way too much favoritism and when i had concerns, I was not being heard. For a profitable company that makes over 7 million dollars a year, there are VERY LITTLE resources in comparison to other large law firms. I did NOT believe that i was set up for success (so much so that GRSM50 was a severe downgrade from other large firms in the area). Further, many employees are stretched thin, making "life/work balance" laughable. Also, the technology is so slow it hinders I hinders work efficiency. Many nights, I worked overtime, just to ensure my billible hours were up to par (since the quota is higher than most, and there is a lot of non-billible work). When I realized that this was a sweatshop, and the managing partner only cared about making a profit, I found a better job. Life is too short to be miserable at work.
