Solid Leadership - Avis employé Engineer Ember One

I've worked at other small businesses that say they foster a family environment, but at Ember One, they actually mean it. Working in such a close knit group can be challenging when there is a squeaky wheel, but the general vibe here is one without a squeaky wheel. Medical benefits are paid for 100%; this was a big surprise compared to other employers of equal size. Profit sharing and team building outings further the feeling of being more than just a number. Everyone truly seems to be out to help each other and it shows every day.

With such a streamlined team, time management is key, but the days do fly by quickly. The only other con I can think of for my specific position would be lack of opportunities to move within the company, but I'm happy where I sit.

The team of engineers and office staff are absolute pleasures.

Upon getting this position I had two close family members pass away within weeks of each other. The owner and manager told me to take a week off for bereavement. When coming back to the office I was then told by the manager that I took an unprecedented amount of “vacation” and was reprimanded. Keep in mind this “vacation” was offered to me by management when I told them of my family members passing. I was then fired a week later with no explanation or cause.
