Avantages

Duke Med Center has no shortage of competent, mindful self-starters. Some have worked there for 20 years or more and are fiercely loyal (not just to the basketball team).

Inconvénients

Managers could use more leadership training - and a warmer 'bedside manner' - when it comes to leading by example, building credibility, communicating important decisions and giving real-time, relevant feedback. I saw frustration and tears from staff at all ladder rungs. High pressure environment for the doctors, nurses and technicians that impacts the office workers (business managers, account managers, admins, marketing teams).

Avantages

Pay is good for an administration job that is patient facing. They have good heath insurance options. They are willing to train people thathave not used their systems.

Inconvénients

No paid holidays, you have to use your PTO bank. They changed to a time management system that is unforgiving. You know have to have PTO in your bank to even ask for PTO. No negitive PTO option. They have a point system for calling out and being tardy. That stays on your file for 13 month with no way to lose the point. Implementing a self service system that questions jobs security.
