Avantages
The primary schedule is nice, the work has been solid. Work is case based, but if you're mindful of your daily workload it'll fill out your hours. You'll see lots of your area and the miles occasionally pay off well.
Inconvénients
The company culture has been in decline since CompuCom was purchased by Office Depot. Field Engineers used to be treated with respect, but the culture has changed to treat them as dispensable and entry-level like Geek Squad. Despite being told repeatedly and often that I was the core of the San Antonio team and one of the absolute best techs in Texas, I only got a single pay raise in 5 years of working for the company, to the tune of 21 cents an hour. Pay is substandard for the industry. $17/hr was good 5 years ago, now it's $2-$3/hr behind jobs with similar requirements, expectations and workloads. Mandatory on-call every 2-3 weeks depending on team size at the moment. On-call requests are frequent and will often have you working 6-7 hours after your 8 hour shift with no refractory period before your next 8 hour shift. My last day with the company was over 20 hours, I got chewed out for interrupting the manager's sleep to ask for more than 4 hours to rest before the next shift.
