Avantages
Enjoyed work and able to work independently for the most part (depending on position and attorney). Learned a great deal and kept busy.
Inconvénients
Not all attorneys easy to work for due to lack of communication. Very little training. Learned most of what I did by reviewing previous work done, if I could find it. I am good with research and have decent computer knowledge so I was able to figure things out. Most attorneys super busy and either difficult to find time to ask questions or they weren’t receptive to questions. However, coworkers were very competitive or unsupportive. A great deal of gossip and judgment, making for a toxic environment. Office manager was often my go to but not always easy to talk to as they were one of the most toxic people in the office. Basically the HR person.
Also, office rules and procedures were NOT universal among assistants. It was clearly based on the person. Often more toxic coworkers used this to their advantage.
