    Avantages

Work that aligns to my beliefs, great work location flexibility, a company that treats you like an adult, leveling up policy to evaluate if you were brought in at the right level after 4 months

    Inconvénients

Pay is lower than industry, the work is tough since government moves slow and we are trying to shake up the whole civtech industry

    Conseils à la direction

Keep creating a safe space that we can retreat to when the project work/environments gets to be overwhelming, keep supporting and believing in your employees. Be transparent about the growth plan for current employees as we plan to grow the organization significantly.

    Candidature

J'ai postulé en ligne. Le processus a pris 4 semaines. J'ai passé un entretien à Nava en mai 2020.

    Entretien

I read the Glassdoor reviews and thought I'd be different. Every interview said: long interview process, then rejected. I had a 1 hr phone screen. A 1 hr technical interview. Then a 1 hr coding interview. Then a 4 hour "onsite" technical interview + coding + personal. I've never done so well on an interview and clicked so well with those interviewing me. A manager called me the next day and said "what can we say to make you join Nava?" Then the next day, I got a standard template rejection email. Then they relisted the job.

I asked for feedback, eventually heard back that my coding part wasn't as good as they'd like. For and Infra position that doesn't use anything but scripting. I got 99% of the coding problem correct, the interviewer couldn't even figure out how to get the last 1%.

They asked multiple questions about why you want to join Nava, civic tech, health questions, basically wanting a right culture fit. They mentioned this was more important than the technical interviews.

The job description and interviews were basically everything I'm good at, so I'm very surprised I didn't get an offer. If you're reading this and interviewing, you probably won't get an offer either.

They also asked for references before starting the interview process.

Overall, negative experience for wasting this much of my time.
