    Avantages

    L’employeur permet un horaire flexible, la formation est une priorité et il y a beaucoup de possibilités d’avancement. L’équipe est dynamique et il y a un bon esprit de camaraderie et d’entre-aide.

    Inconvénients

    Puisque cet employeur est en perpétuel changement, ceci représente parfois un défi. Tant dans son logo (que j’ai vu changer 3 fois en quelques années) que dans sa culture et sa gestion interne, le « changement » est le mot d’ordre!

    J'ai postulé en ligne. Le processus a pris 2 semaines. J'ai passé un entretien à Ceridian (Ottawa, ON) en juillet 2020.

    Entretien

    I got an email reply to my application, and scheduled an interview with HR. Which was standard HR questions, but something was obviously different, maybe because I was told I would interview in general first, not for a specific position.

    Then the first technical interview was a phone call with a senior developer. He asked multiple questions about understanding concepts, and would ask for examples of me using them before, and also ask deeply in the areas that I knew well but was not explaining myself properly. Mostly Object Oriented theory, mixed with some concepts that are mostly used in javascript, and async/await, concurrency, promises, and its use cases and common issues. This felt to me like the best part of the interview process.

    The third technical interview was with two software developers, obviously not as senior as the first one, and it was not a call but a zoom meeting with a shared screen. They focused on coding exercises, but did not use a service that compiled your code, it was just plain text. So I had to talk my way through explaining the code without running it. There was one about javascript and its weird variable scope where you can define a function as another function, which I had used before but didn't remember how it worked without being able to run it. I thought I had left a bad impression here, whiteboard interviews have been shown to not assess programming ability but presentation and work under stress ability, and I really wish people stopped using them.

    Right after this in the same call, was the interview with two development managers, where they asked questions about my previous experience, explained the current situation if I were to be hired, and answered back any questions I got. I was left with a positive impression of them both.
    Some days later I got a call and an offer letter, which you could sign electronically. From first contact to last it was about two and a half weeks, making it the most streamlined interview process in the last few years.
