This kind of question is not a part of the application process. The candidate is talking about the security interview, where the Mounties are trying to determine whether the candidate is at risk for being blackmailed or is "of good character." The candidate only undergoes this type of questioning after being otherwise pre-qualified for a position. I wasn't asked this question, but was asked whether I buy lottery tickets, have ever bounced a cheque or have trouble paying my bills.

When there was a lack of communication that week between management and myself which caused a catastrophic overlapping schedule issue with second stage interviews and orientations. Listen without talk over the customer. Acknowledge their feeling. Paraphrase to clarify and to diagnose properly where the issues are. Active listening. Probe questions that allow me to understand the root of the issue and what is the customer expecting the solution to be, and try to answer and assist them to our best knowledge.
