First you must remain calm, there is nothing to be gained by displaying the same behavior as an upset customer. Use your best listening skills, the customer wants to be heard and wants someone to listen attentively. Also, actively sympathize with the customer and once everyone is calm and it is clear what the solution to the problem is, assure the customer leaves happy and be sure to apologize gtacefully.
