For the first stage of the interview they ask a few questions and then you do a 10 minute mock lesson. The person was seated in a very loud call center, and it was difficult to hear him, even after tuning out the background noise via their online portal (where the interview is conducted). The only negative feedback that I got was that I needed to give the child simpler instructions. He suggested that I should buy a whiteboard and dry erase markers, more props, a map or some decorations for my background, and flashcards. I said that I would be more than happy to buy those items if I got the job but that I felt it was unnecessary to buy them prior to knowing if I would be moving forward. Within hours I got an e-mail saying that they thought I had a lot of potential but that I would need to do another 10 minute mock interview to see if I could move on to the next step. I received numerous e-mails asking me to sign up for another 10 minute mock and a phone call reminding me to sign up, but I have decided that this company is not for me. Imagine going to interview at Target and the interviewer says: "I'm going to need you to come back tomorrow wearing khaki pants, a red shirt, and an oval name tag, and if you don't have these items, buy them, and then we'll go from there." I'm not going to invest in the suggested items before I know if I'm hired.
