    Very long and went through a recruiter. Had about 4-5 interviews and submitted an extensive assessment that was given with limited time. The recruiting agency handed me off from one person to another. CEO is sexist and asked trivial questions- don't think he would have asked my particular questions to a man or an "Ivy League" graduate. Unfortunately, I would not recommend working for this company.

    I think the interview process was one of the most exhilarating experience I have had. I come from big box retail where it was a very traditional interview flow (a couple rounds meeting a few people at different levels asking you generic and interpersonal type questions). At Thisopenspace, I was interested in its mission and the problem they were solving I knew I wanted to work there. I reached out and to my surprise the CEO wrote me personally and we ended up having an amazing conversation discussing my interests. Over about three weeks we spoke about different obsticales the company was working to over come and how I would fit in when it came to my interest and skill sets and finally landed on the right fit. I met with three different people throughout the interview process and then was given a take home assignment, which I was given a reasonable amount of time to complete. The assignment was really focused on building out what I felt my 30-60-90 day plan would be in role and then I ended up presenting it to the CEO. Once I started I was able to realign with my manager to fine tune the plan to ensure it was aggressive yet realistic.

    Most people seem to receive some form of take home assignment. Ranging from developing a 30-60-90 plan (more for operations and marketing functions) to writing code to solve a specific software issue (this was within the software function).

    The interview process was very qualitative with many conversations with different parts of different teams.
    - Started with a phone screening with the Director of Operations
    - Followed by a video call with the New York team
    - Role related skills homework assignment
    - Zoom call with the CEO
    - In Person Interview with the team in Toronto
    - Reference Check

    Overall, this is a fast moving, highly skilled team that cares a lot about who they will be adding.

    The interviews followed a standard, structured process.

    It started with an email from the CEO. We met in person to discuss my background and the company's overall vision. It was a great informal chat that lead to subsequent conversations with other members of the product team.

    During these conversations, each interview became more focused. I was asked to share more about my experience and life story, verbally work through product problems and share insights about product development frameworks, methodologies and processes.

    It was a no brainer to join thisopenspace once I had more exposure to the strong team, culture and product vision. There was a quick turnaround for the offer and the team was very understanding about my need for a flexible start date.

    The process really focused on getting to know me, my strengths/weaknesses, past experience, and what referrals had to say about me. It involved a number of phone calls, a case, an in-person interview, and references. I was able to learn a lot about the company, define my role throughout the process, and this led to an accurate mission being created by my hiring manager.
