Long...Submitted my resume in early December. Spoke with HR on 12/19. Took four weeks for HR to schedule phone interview with hiring manager (this is probably due to the Holidays). From there, it was reasonably quick.
I quit a job previously in my career and it is not on my resume - nor is my experience as an accountant right out of undergrad 20 years ago - because it is not relevant to what I am pursuing. I've also been laid off of work three times in the past decade. I covered these topics extensively with HR in the initial phone screen so they shouldn't have been a problem. In the third interview, the VP I spoke with seized on those omissions along with the unexpected layoffs (and accompanying gaps) and spent 90 minutes playing "gotcha"...as if he caught me trying to hide something. This person was outright disrespectful and almost insulting.
I was perfectly qualified for the position and went into this interview 90% certain that the job was in the bag - and that I wanted it. I came home from meeting with this individual and emailed HR and declined any further consideration for the role. What's odd is that HR called me a few days after the interview and apologized for the behavior of this person and that he violated several policies...
