1:1 interview with Publisher (GM) where everything was great. Relaxing, professional environment. Able to observe a cohesive "team" atmosphere at the office. I had a soup-to-nuts interview, which culminated with a frank discussion about compensation. Pretty straight-forward process. I had 3+years of outside sales experience, which included both business development and account management. Truly more of a conversation than any sort of point-by-point interrogation. I could sense from observation and interview that this was a great office to work for. everyone was professional, but seemed to maintain genuine happiness. This culture appealed to me, since I worked in yellow pages industry, where evrything was much more cutthroat.
I had one follow-up 1:1 with RM. This was much like the 1st interview in terms of tone, etc. This stage was merely a "rubber-stamp" for hiring Publisher's decision. I would tell others to show confidence & assertiveness, but connect your experience "dots" to their company's needs. The company needs people who can multi-task, with monthly production and sales deadlines. Probably a must to have outside sales experience, since the geography covers metro DC, to include 40 miles NESW of the city. Ability to adapt to different levels of decision makers and influencers -- property level and C-level mgrs.
Overall, this job really is a hidden gem! I didn't have much enthusiasm before my 1st interview, but walked away with a working offer & knowing this is where I wanted to work. They provide all the necessary tools to succeed, including laptop; mobile, wireless internet access; blackberry; state-of-the-art digital camera; expense account and good support team
