I applied on-line and got a phone call from the manager within a few days. I went in and spoke about the job, she told me about the policy and procedure, about the advancement opportunities, how the commission is made and the culture in the salon. We did a technical and I met with the owner. Then I was offered a position.. Easy pleasy..

The hiring manager said in the interview that “people just don’t want to work these days” referring to a struggle to keep staff on board. This was a red flag to me, so I asked questions and dug deeper only to find many internal operations issues that might cause people to just not want to work for them due to perpetuation of toxic work environments and exploitative practices. I did not accept the position offered.

I felt welcome and we talked about opportunities and job description. We also talked about the expectations and compensation. My past experience was something useful in this interview. I like how attentive they we're to this process.

Easy and quick. Very laid back. Asked great questions to see if the team was right for me. Had a phone interview and set up a day and time to meet. Met, interviewed, met owner and started the following Monday.
