Candidature

J'ai postulé en ligne. Le processus a pris 3 semaines. J'ai passé un entretien à Elastic (Boston, MA (États-Unis)) en mai 2019.

Entretien

Working with the recruiting team at Elastic, I felt valued as a candidate and was never unsure of where I stood in the process. It was always clear what the next steps were and if any changes needed to be made, the TA team was quick to notify me.

My interviews with the other members of the team were also very helpful in that I was able to get a very clear picture of what the hiring manager wanted, what his boss wanted, and what the regional team (that i'd be supporting) wanted and needed. Lastly, it was very helpful to talk to someone who is already in the role to get a good idea of what you're walking into - both good and bad.

My lasting impression from all of the conversations is that the team, although distributed, all believed in what they were doing and genuinely seemed to like working with each other. This, for me, was most important.

    Entretien

Recruiter reaches out by email @1 week after my application. He asks to schedule a call through their calendly app - fine.

I had the phone right in my hand, waiting for the call on the day. He gives me a "missed call" 7 minutes late (not sure what the strategy was here?). The interview was scheduled for 30 min.

I call him back having received his missed call to which I try to be polite and said that the connection must've dropped (it didn't). He said "myeah" and then he just stops. Literally an awkward silence. So i said - fine let me introduce myself perhaps, I thank him for his time and off I go with the intro.

He said ok, then he starts grilling me with questions that were just silly. Why did i leave from here, there etc. Then started making fun of my accent, the way I pronounced something. FYI to that guy: As an eg. you can pronounce Pizza or "Pie-za", the choice is yours but there is one socially accepted option.

Another awkward situation was when I was telling him why I want to work for them he just interrupts me and says that we are under time constraint and I need to come with point answers??? ---> HE CALLED IN LATE!!!! Then he asks me to continue with my points. ???

After the grilling he offers me the most junior role on the table under the pretext of experience. Pfff - what a joke.

Overall, it felt he was doing me a favour all the time and I was bothering him.
