The first few rounds went well and everyone seemed to be on the same page with what the role was and what they were looking for. When I got to the final rounds with senior leadership they seemed to have a different idea of what they wanted the position to focus on. The most senior leader was a little rude and condescending. A presentation was involved and after reading another commenters experience I am wondering if they are using these “interviews” to get ideas of what to do with the role with no intention of hiring. I am also wondering if some of the issues the role is meant to address are more of a culture/leadership problem.

Exhausting interview process with disappointing outcome. I applied for the Career Manager role and went through multiple phone screens and virtual interviews, followed by two in-person interviews, and a final virtual interview with a senior leader in San Francisco. Everyone I interacted with prior to this final interview was kind and professional, which made the experience initially encouraging. During the in-person interviews, I disclosed that an immediate family member has cancer, and that I mask to protect her. While I understand workplace policies vary, the reactions I received made the experience uncomfortable, and it seems this may have influenced the outcome. The final virtual interview clarified a lot of the negative reviews I had read — the senior leader’s behavior was very challenging, and her assistant reinforced it throughout. After six rounds of interviews and preparing a presentation, I requested feedback and they failed to respond, which was extremely unprofessional and disappointing. *Months later, it appears Appian has not hired any Career Managers, despite saying they were assembling a team of nearly ten.* Overall, the process was time-consuming, exhausting, and left me questioning the organization’s internal culture. Unfortunately, it seems all of the negative reviews were spot on. I really wish someone had warned me before I wasted hours of my time jumping through their hoops for a job that apparently doesn't actually exist. Pros: – Most interviewers were polite and professional – Clear scheduling and communication Cons: – Extremely long and time-intensive process – Final virtual interview with senior leadership was challenging and uncomfortable – Assistant behavior reinforced senior leader’s negative approach – Lack of feedback after interview – Position still unfilled months later
