Behavior Interview per Leadership Principles against the job description. Several interviewers were repeating the same question. I asked to clarify and noted that the question appeared to have been asked. The writing essay question was asked in the loop interview again too.

Questions d'entretien
  • Why Amazon? What is the most innovative idea? When you did not meet a commitment, how did you pivot?

Just gave phone screening interview. Need to practice a lot on behavioural questions. I don't really understand why they have such behavioral questions for someone who is interviewing for pure coding skills. I think most of the real programmers will not be able to showcase themselves. People who can lie and have good communication skill with average programming is what they might be expecting.

Questions d'entretien
  • Phone Screening: Role: Software QA Engineer 3 Behavioral questions -30min 2 coding questions - 30 min Behavioral Questions: - Tell me about a time when u had to work out of ur comfortzone? How did u manage? - Tell me about time when I innovated things in the project and how it helped - Tell me about a time when you solved the big problem with small solution Coding: - some reading a file and grouping similar type into a dictionary. Mostly reading line and using regex Output= {'typ1' : [1, 2], 'typ2':[2,3]} - return the max duplicate letters in string

Standard Amazon process (gimmicky coding questions, situation behavioral questions), not a lot of information provided on the actual role. Most of my interviewers were not on my future team, which made it difficult to get my technical details about the role (eg. coding languages, day-to-day activities). One interviewer in particular liked to interrupt to reword my answers, in a way that diminished my responsibilities on former project, as well as stating that some of my behavioral answers were "not good" and to come up with something else (hard to do when you only have a couple years of work experience).

Questions d'entretien
  • State a time where you worked on something outside of your particular role. What was a particularly challenging task that you completed, and how did you know when you needed assistance from another team member?

Two 30min intro calls (one with boss to be who found me on linkedin, another with an AWS recruiter), then they scheduled me for 5 hours of interviews (split up between 3 days) via chime (their video chat app), with somewhere between 6-8 people, 1-2 people on each call. I personally really appreciated their interview processes. I got to talk to all the different heads/teams of people I would be working with. It was a bit hard at first to figure out how to talk about projects in the past I did that are covered by NDAs, but I think I managed ok and each person was very understanding and was very respectful of the NDA struggle and tried to help. The Senior Recruiter that talked to me second really put my mind at ease and let me know what to expect for the intimidating 5 hours of interviews I had coming up. (I get really bad interview anxiety.) This particular job didn't require interviews that were "technical sit down test" types, but I was asked over and over again things like "tell me about a project where you X Y Z," and they encourage you to tell different project experience stories each time even if they asked similar questions (because they each have to write papers on their experiences with you and want to get the full/varied picture). This style of interview was much easier for me to get into a flow with and seemed way more natural. All said and done this particular position didn't actually line up with where I'd like to point my career trajectory as much as I thought it might initially, so we didn't proceed after that. I loved that they didn't push or guilt me in any way before or after that discovery, they want to find someone who wants the position and would like to stay there as long as possible too. Some critical things I can say about the structure of the company were they kept mentioning that they are very "data driven" and you get bonuses based on "success" but then when I asked how success is measured they had no real answer for me... Just that you set goals with your leader and then attempt to succeed but that they're flexible to move/adjust those deadlines/failures can be counted as successes if you have good reason, etc. Sounded pretty subjective and ambiguous/not "data driven" to me. Everyone talked about needing to be really good at setting your own boundaries for work life balance, because otherwise you'll get sucked in and burnt out b/c there's always things to do. This was also one of the most diverse and respectful interviews I've EVER had. More women and POC in positions of power than I've ever seen at other companies so far. Almost everyone talks to you with automatic respect. Surprised the heck out of me. A lot of old guys with certain backgrounds if you catch my drift automatically talk down to you in a lot of interviews. I feel the diversity on the various teams really allowed be to actually be myself and show where I shine rather than automatically need to defend my competency the entire time.

Questions d'entretien
  • Use the star format and be ready to tell them all about how you failed at some point and what you learned, etc. Your engineering process so the things you do to solve problems, think about a time where you faced a challenge/couldn't solve an issue on your own, etc.

Technical, situation-based questions. They want to know how technically sound you are and at the same want to see if you have the leadership principles they're looking for. It's good to know your resume inside out.

Questions d'entretien
  • 1. Leadership principle based interview questions. 2. Give examples of times when you experienced a challenge, how you solved it etc. 3. Here's a FA problem. What will be your approach?
