      Entretien

Interview process took about 2 months, I applied at the end of April heard back about Mid May for an interview with HR. Interview went well, really enjoyed the conversation and looked forward to next steps. Couple days later HR sent me an assignment to be completed within a week. I actually really enjoyed the assignment and thought it really put to test my experience. Sent in the assignment on May 21st and didn't hear back for about two weeks. I reached out for an update and HR told me that ASUS HQ announced a hiring freeze and that she would keep me updated. I thought the communication regarding the hiring freeze was quite disappointing from their end, if it wasn't for me emailing I probably wouldn't heard back. Two weeks past and I still had not heard back so I emailed HR again for an update and HR responded saying that hiring is back and to schedule a video interview with the hiring manager. The day of the interview, the hiring manager did not show up, HR was trying to contact him but did not get a hold of him and so interview had to be rescheduled. As I waited for the interview to be rescheduled HR sent me an Employment Application form to fill out as well as to add my references. Returned that and finally a week after I had my interview with the hiring manager. Interview went well, I enjoyed talking to the hiring manager and learning about what they were looking for in the person they wanted to hire. Only thing I did not like about the interview was that the hiring manager started the interview with: "let's get this over with" which I thought was really rude to say at the beginning of an interview. Three days after the interview I get a call from HR offering me the job and that on Monday I would receive my job offer to sign. I was super excited as I really loved the position. HR told me that they were going to change the job title to Marketing Specialist and lower the salary 10K due to lack of technical experience. This I thought was not entirely fair and so I tried to negotiate the salary. In the first interview I had with HR I was told the salary would be 70K which I thought was right for the experience they were looking for as well as the job market value in the Bay Area. We negotiated and the highest they would go would be 63K which I agreed to. Note that the lack of technical experience they said was product knowledge which if I am correct is learned once you start the job. June 29th: Monday comes and I get an automatic email from ASUS saying: "Thank you for giving us the opportunity to consider you for employment. After carefully reviewing your background and qualifications, we felt that you were not a match at this time". So not even a phone call from HR letting me know they had rescinded their verbal job offer. I thought this was super unprofessional from their part. I emailed HR letting her know that I received their rejection email and thanked her and the hiring manager for their time and consideration. HR responded saying she was available to hop on a call for any questions. I emailed back just asking what the reason was for the rejection, HR said it was compensation. Overall, this has been one of the worst job interview experiences in my opinion and wouldn't want anyone to go through this. Honestly, I really loved the role and the idea of working at ASUS but wouldn't want to work with an administration that treats people like this. Hope your experience is a little better.
