    Avantages

Over the past few months we have had several much needed departures that have hugely improved morale and removed a lot of old blockers on getting things done. The company was nearly ruined by the previous CEO and the web of nepotism that spawned under him. The new CEO has been cutting out the "old boy's club" and seems much more interested in getting high quality products for our customers than in stoking egos of "senior managers" or letting "principal engineers" waste months tinkering on their personal open source pet projects. The people that are still around are pretty great to work with. Everyone seems to be moving to a more collaborative mindset, and I am actually seeing teams work together productively for once. We are actually managing to deliver products in a timely manner for the first time in ages, and what we are producing actually feels like it is going up in quality.

    Inconvénients

For a company all about modeling and data, there is a surprising lack of leveraging of that data. We are slowly starting to branch out into alternate ways to surface and look at our data, but we still have a long way to go before we start getting into some really cutting edge services. A few teams are getting into some interesting ml work, but a lot of the work that needs doing is not what hackernews would consider "sexy" There is a lot of earned and unearned resistance towards the new cicd-sre org and their pipeline platform. Their approach does feel heavy handed and top-down, which some people find off-putting. On the other hand, they are providing much needed guard rails and standards in place to ensure a basic level of sanity/quality. To folks that demand total Dev autonomy with no oversight, this is an affront to nature, but to those of us just trying to do our jobs and work on some interesting problems, it has honestly been relatively painless. Last but not least, the infrastructure seems to rapidly change. One day we are all on Jenkins, the next we are on Azure, with no visibility into our deployments for months. One day we are using graylog, then suddenly we move to kibana and it is super unstable for the first month. I can understand moving off stacks that are fundamentally missing our requirements or that are too expensive for the value they provide (and to be honest, I have low faith in the old guard folks that made some if those original decisions), but it would be nice if more effort was put into making those rapid transitions less painful and more smooth.

    Avantages

Company where your talent is recognized, if you are persistent and hardworking. Need to be good at technical to survive as it is big data company, domain is little boring but state of the art models and science that's how they are able to sustain in the market as the best.

    Inconvénients

Strategy is changed without measuring the outcome, because of that teams are frustrated. Sometimes little too much work for some teams but not all of them.
