J'ai travaillé chez We Energies en Contrat Permanent (Pendant plus de 10 ans)

    Avantages

Depending upon position, pay is good but medical benefits are becoming costlier. The benefits are decent and available.

    Inconvénients

Jobs are no longer located near the city you reside in. Commuting at least 40 minutes or more is required. Other modes of transportation not available or convenient. Wear on your vehicle and on you.

    Avantages

As it’s a regulated monopoly, the company isn’t going anywhere. There’s really no good reason to work here other than it’s a paycheck.

    Inconvénients

Staff numbers are always being cut while workloads increase, nepotism reigns supreme, no clear career progression path, employment practices that are 30 years out of date, aging workforce to the point where it’s like working in a senior living facility. The company has zero respect for its employees and work-life balance is nonexistent. It’s like being in a Dilbert cartoon.

    Conseils à la direction

Treat your employees like human beings.

    Avantages

Management walks the talk. Safety, customer service, community engagement. They prioritize appropriately. A financially strong company in an industry which will not be experiencing significant disruption for at least a decade.

    Inconvénients

Culture is rigid and hierarchal. Bureaucracy reigns and employees are subject to many federal requirements. Failure to execute at a consistent high level can bring severe monetary penalties including loss of bonus and cost-of-living raises.

Do what you're told, when you're told, and do it perfectly and you will succeed here.

    Conseils à la direction

    No advice.

J'ai travaillé chez We Energies en Contrat Permanent (Pendant plus de 5 ans)

    Avantages

    work-life balance, bonus, medical, pension

    Inconvénients

The company is poorly managed and it only does well financially because the public service commission doesn't question anything. Most projects go far over budget and fail. However, this does not matter because it goes back to the rate payers anyways.

IT Dept is a complete a joke. As a manager I needed reports and data to make some basic decisions but IT said it would take too much money or the request was too difficult. Most of the IT employees are actually smart, but extremely poorly managed. The CTO has no experience in IT so that might be why.

Also, it is very difficult to get promoted. I felt bad for many analysts and specialists that have zero career growth. Truly, the best way to get promoted is to suck up and be a right wing conservative.

Most managers there were full of themselves as if what they were doing mattered. They could seriously cut 70% of the managers and the company would operate the same, if not better.

    Conseils à la direction

Foster younger talent and cut some the fat. You know 20% of the staff simply puts of barriers and creates more work for others. Become an agile company and stop operating as if it were the 80's. It is only a matter of time before the public service commission cuts the endless capital spending. Also, before you know it renewable will reach the point of parity.........and then customer choice will come a long.

Please stop with the politics and start hiring managers and directors that are actually qualified.

    Avantages

Good people to work with, good work/life balance

    Inconvénients

No opportunities to move up. Rigid heirarchy. Tuition reimbursement is dismal, $2k a year doesn't get you anything. All travel has been cut due to budget and there is no industry training due to this. Benefits are being cut left and tight though the company has been losing many employees after the merger.

    Conseils à la direction

Provide more opportunities. Recognize talent instead of just promoting using some rigid HR rules.

  11. « Burdensome »

    Ancien employé - Employé anonyme
    Ancien employé - Employé anonyme

    Avantages

Great pay and flexibility with exchanging shifts with another employee in order to have off. Takes care if it's customers more than any other company.

    Inconvénients

Schedules are good for only 6 months. Excessive overtime hours, extremely micromanaged and metrics are set higher every year. Executives care more about the company image than protecting its employees including when the customer is at fault. Moral is at an all time low including veterans that have been there for 20 years. Agents are choosing retirement over continued work as management seems out of touch with their employees.

    Conseils à la direction

Please take note of the complete dissatisfaction with the company and take steps to remedy the situation.
