    Avantages

    -Current employees/management: supportive, inclusive and collaborative. Management puts a lot of trust in its employees and in turn, we feel the need to go above and beyond
    -Professional development: Employee Professional Development Program as well as the encouragement from management to stay "in the know" within your field - constant feeling of engagement and growth
    -Person vs. "just an employee number": my experience so far has proven that Trapeze values my skill sets and expertise from a personal perspective - team and management values my opinion, knowledge, etc. in decision making

    If good employees leave and you have high employee turnover, then that tells you there is poor leadership because not all employees are bad

    Management is sensible and supportive
    Culturally diverse
    There is a restaurant annex to the lobby that is simple but quite good and the staff is very friendly.

    Inconvénients

    Terrible location. Bus lines are very unreliable specially during winter.

    As usual in big companies there are several branches and layers of management so sometimes you may feel like you have to answer to too many people...

    Avantages

    Trapeze was built in part by merging in different companies with different products and different ways of doing things, so your mileage may vary. But I had friendly coworkers and a friendly manager, and was never asked to work overtime.

    Inconvénients

    Pay was relatively low. In my software group there was no agile methodology, no attention to best practices, little opportunity for professional development. Mississauga used an internal graphical programming tool that was horrible. My suggestions or improvement to more senior staff were ignored (though perhaps I'm too soft-spoken with such things.)

    I once had a brief chat with the CEO and got the impression he didn't understand software: he thought having completely separate products that didn't share ANY code, doing basically the same thing (fixed-route transit) but targeted at different-sized markets, was a good idea. He also explained how they were leaving the Taxi business because it wasn't profitable - I heard it as "we don't know how to write software well enough to succeed in a competitive market." So I'd say Trapeze needs more people at the highest levels who grok software very well and know how to identify, promote and nurture good developers.

    Decent entry level job to get new graduates into their first job

    Inconvénients

    Many managers lack management skills
    Micromanagement on all levels of management
    Lack of employee support and mentoring to foster future company leaders
    Lack of vendor experience in executive and management
    Lack of onboard training

    Until you look at your lower level employees as your future leaders, and offer a quality management track, you will continue to lose quality employees to your competitors.

    You also need to take an honest look at who you have in management positions and evaluate if they are effective people managers vs threatened by their direct reports. Throwing your team "under the bus" is not what great managers do. It shows a serious fear in the hierarchy and lack of company-wide empowerment.
