    Avantages

    Great history. Good product, and craftsmanship that one can be proud of.

    Inconvénients

    Very political. Very much like high school with cliques which likely dictate your success. Mid level management is weak and displays favoritism in most cases. Commission structure is punitive and encourages divisiveness within team. Also there is an elitist mentality where people “with money” are treated with higher regard. Whether client or employee.

    Get to know the teams at every level. Do not just listen by chain of command. If managers show favoritism and only speak of a few people, there is not equal opportunity.

    Avantages

    Great history and brand recognition Product is beautiful and customer service is top notch Opportunities to visit other locations for training or assistance

    Inconvénients

    Basic retail environment complaints--competitiveness, sales professionals are immature at times, "customer is always right" attitude even whey they make ridiculous claims. Stores place customers first, then sales professionals, then support staff, then management team. I do not necessarily disagree with this line of thinking but as an ASM I did not feel enough support being a last thought.

    Follow through on research from the results of the employee surveys instead of just creating initiatives to make it appear that the problem is being fixed.

    Avantages

    Fast paced and versatile environment with opportunity to take risks and implement new ideas while maintaining high levels of company standards. Company is progressive and forward-thinking, but maintains its reverence as one of the oldest American companies.

    Inconvénients

    Turnover can be high in retail environment, sales are also challenging in today's economy. Remaining motivated as a member of management will be difficult if you rely on monetary compensation (if you do not you will find the most rewarding experiences come from helping your employees find success).

    Avantages

    Company supports forward thinking and professional growth. Company training is amazing. You are trained from day one and continue throughout your career.

    Inconvénients

    Colleague resentment causes low employee morale. Human Resources should be notified by management and director to stop the colleague resentment in his/her tracks in order to protect the employee that best serves the company.

    Avantages

    Great work/life balance. Fantastic benefits. Great training provided on gemstones and selling protocol. Upper management very supportive.

    Inconvénients

    Not a lot of room for growth unless you are relocatable. Hard to close sales with no room for price negotiation and jewelry priced much higher than competitors. Mass layoffs this year were a shock to many at store level.

    Too much stock put on 'romance of Tiffany' as a selling point. Many designs are childish and overpriced.

    Avantages

    The company culture is friendly and focused on developing their employees. They have many tools available for training and education, including tuition reimbursement. Employee benefits are fantastic.

    Inconvénients

    The company would roll out new programs and then change them. It was difficult to properly motivate the sales staff to follow these new programs, as the team knew it would not be a lasting directive.

    Avantages

    Good benefits (health insurance, vacation time, merchandise discount), access to merchandise due to stores nationwide, if you work in the NYC area you have better access to training/development due to the close proximity to Corporate.

    Inconvénients

    Employees at the store level have a poor work/life balance. Employees have been promoted into management who process subpar knowledge of how to be an effective leader. The quality of merchandise has steadily declined over the years yet prices have steadily increased. Rampant favoritism in regards to sales professionals with "top clients". When concerns are voiced to management or HR you become a target for... retaliation. Minorities do not possess Senior Management positions.

    Show the employees that you care about them. They are on the front lines and represent the brand to the public. If they aren't happy, then how can they make the customer happy. Ensure that quality employees are given the fair opportunity to advance with the company, do not promote someone simply because they "smile and shake hands", you must possess knowledge and leadership abilities as well. Actually listen to the... employees when they participate in the Employee Survey process and work to make change happen.

    Avantages

    The company provides a good amount of paid time off and employee discount. Managers work to develop talent. Many great locations.

    Inconvénients

    Retail schedule so you will have to work weekends and holidays. Technologically a bit behind in many ways. Corporate employees are often not helpful to retail employees.

    Upgrade IT systems. Company does pay more than other retailers, but not enough to keep people interested. Provide parking for retail employees.

    Avantages

    The atmosphere and clients. The culture and values of the company, the sustainability concerns and the merchandise quality.

    Inconvénients

    Bad eggs are hard to remove. Trying to get back into the company once you leave is difficult as well.
