    Amazing job perks like snacks and fitness classes

    Inconvénients

    Contradicting information given by the heads of the company, made it stressful and difficult to create quality work. It was chaos.

    Avantages

    -company grew extremely fast, and with that came an abundance of interesting work, growth opportunities for current employees, and overall great scope of challenging work
    - Hiref lots of smart, driven people
    - Culture was one of autonomy, and relative amount of trust granted to employees (in comparison to larger, less progressive organizations)
    - opportunity to build a brand

    Inconvénients

    - The company went through many iterations of brand development and strategy, thus affecting org structures and talent needs during the 3 years of rapid growth. This made for a relatively unstable and unpredictable environment for employees.

    Avantages

    Good base culture, good pay, everyone is generally friendly and works as a team.

    Inconvénients

    The company is experiencing mass exits as there are no opportunities, and any execs or head office team members are completely uninformed and uninvested in the store level. Management makes it difficult to keep a passion for developing and pipelining within the company through their arrogance and obliviousness to anyone else. They consistently act out of integrity and skip over people for jobs to promote their favourites, not even providing interview opportunities.
    Store level managers are petty and can't support their teams in moving on, even when still working and invested in the success of the business. If you choose to explore high opportunities elsewhere it is taken personally and you will be outcast and punished until you choose to leave.

    Conseils à la direction

    Invest in store level teams, identify talent and work to develop and keep in company. Store level managers need serious coaching on supporting team members in the growth and development both inside and outside the company.

    The rapid growth taught a lot - learning the hard way though.

    Inconvénients

    Leadership missing aligned intention - growing so fast wasn't based in adding value to people, it came from ego and wanting to be the person with the most stuff

    Avantages

    - great fun team to work with
    - staff discounts same as Lululemon
    - networking; you get to meet a lot of people on the shopfloor

    Inconvénients

    - Shop Director was very select about her team; it seemed like if you followed her without question, you'd be taken care of otherwise not so much.

    - Did not really follow the initial promise of wanting to help move employees to achieve their career goals, be it within then company or somewhere else. Had a few employees who were looking for career opportunities elsewhere get fired with no distinct reason. Started to talk about moving to another firm for a full time position and once the SD heard, I noticed I started to get shut out.

    - Slightly dishonourable management. When the shop was in need of more workers, Shop Director would go to the neighbouring Lululemon with cupcakes to try to "poach" the Educators there.

    - Also claimed to be in the business of giving feedback and open conversations. However, on multiple occasions, the SD would call people in to talk to them about something they had allegedly done wrong based on what she heard from someone else and it was very hard to convince her otherwise.

    - Was supposed to talk about a full-time position when the summer months rolled in and sales picked up. Ended up working 40 hour weeks, made bonus every single day but no talks of full-time. I needed the health benefits and the assured hours of a full time position but was just kept there as a part-time, got 15 hours a week on some weeks. Couldn't even get a 2nd job with the irregular hour schedulings and I really struggled to pay rent because of that

    Conseils à la direction

    - Listen to your people.
    - Practice what you preach. Just because something doesn't resonate directly with your leadership style doesn't mean it's worthless and worth icing out someone for.
    - Cultivate your talent like you claim to, instead of feeling threatened and pushing them down.

    Je travaille chez Kit and Ace à plein temps

    Avantages

    You get to see, work and learn as much or as little as you want. It’s a small team so you have to be willing to work hard. If you want to learn about something all you need to do is ask. Good people, good product and a good place to develop!

    Inconvénients

    Location isn’t ideal for bus or you have to pay for parking if you drive. A few negative people in the office can be draining on morale.

    Avantages

    Wonderful coworkers, lots of perks at the office, laid back environment, flexible work hours, flexible dress code.

    Inconvénients

    Some senior management is extremely junior and inexperienced, which ultimately lead to the downfall of the company.

    Inconvénients

    - Organization was sometimes lacking (e.g. last minute scheduling)
    - Sometimes coworkers could spiral into a bit of a negative vibe (a lot of changes where happening with the company at that time, so the future was a bit uncertain and that was stressful to deal with)
