J'ai travaillé chez Imageworks à temps plein plus de 3 ans

    Avantages

good pay and benefits, nice location, some great supervisors and a mix of live action and animated features.

    Inconvénients

slowly moving away from the good managers who look after crew. some supervisors are not the best but thats the same everywhere.

    Conseils à la direction

figure out if we are an animated feature house or doing a mix of live action also. some new management are shifting the feel of the studio away from the family friendly place we loved

Je travaille chez Imageworks à temps plein depuis plus de 8 ans

    Avantages

Deep pipeline with commitment to developing it's own technology. Extremely experienced team of Visual Effects Supervisors, Producers and support staff. High quality level and good learning environment.

    Inconvénients

Like all the other companies in this industry, Imageworks is adapting their business model to survive in the current financial climate. That means branching into territories with tax incentives and downsizing it's presence in the United States.

    Conseils à la direction

To maintain the high standard of work it's vital to protect the core team of artists. This should include more than just supervisors, but leads and developers. As much talent as there is in the market right now, few are familiar with the technology or the pipeline.

    Avantages

A great talent pool. I have worked with some of the smartest people in the business. Also, they have built vast computing resources.

    Inconvénients

It is controlled by executives who do not have the creative vision to make Imageworks stand out. There has been a ubiquitous layer of highly paid executives who mostly jostle for influence and thwart productivity in their attempts to look like they know what they are doing to bosses who know even less. There is tremendous nepotism. The politics are cut throat and there is no clear and open system of productive... feedback and reward. Imageworks (and sony pictures animation) has no idea what business it wants to be in, and as a result continually produces flawed and poorly designed products despite the talent of the artist pool.

    Conseils à la direction

Do not lie to your workers. Do not try to trick people out of their severance benefits after they have worked for you for many years. People understand hard times and can accept that there is no work, but the kind of outrageous contract negociations going on right now are only going to ensure that they will never want to come back when things look up again.
