    Avantages

    Benefits, Dream perks and a coffee machine with an assortment of coffee.

    Inconvénients

    Poor management, excess work hours (no work/life balance), 3rd party service provider so your trying to please the customer service and the client.

    They know what needs to be done but nothing can be done as they are a 3rd party service provider.

    Avantages

    -Downtown core.
    -Pay & benefits is competitive if you can negotiate hard.
    - Free coffee.
    - Some colleagues are genuine good folks

    Inconvénients

    - high stress environment with rampant overtime
    - volatile business environment. Lost a big client recently and layoffs are frequent.
    - Unethical management & HR practices. Team was randomly "reassessed" and demotions were handed out, effectively grounds for constructive dismissal. New hires got their title bait and switched, while some senior employees had their titles stripped down to a junior level.
    - Very high turnover - whether it is people leaving or laid off.
    - Dated technology. Many alternatives downtown if you're in software development.

    Treat your employees better. Enough with the smoke and mirrors. Mean what you say.

    Avantages

    Downtown location is convenient. Descent benefits.

    Inconvénients

    Company has no vision from the top, and senior management is weak with no clear strategy, direction for the company, and motivation for the employees. The teams don't work or get along well, and senior management lacks ability to manage its employees or drive the company towards common goal. Highly political environment, highly contractor based and people do what they want.

    Avantages

    Talented hard working colleagues who wish to be loyal and do the right thing. I met many incredible people here.

    Inconvénients

    Silo-ed place lacking ability to collaborate. A definite division between upper management and the rest of us. Its really is a bunch of Manulife Upper managers who followed the CEO Katherine to IFDS. I heard one say ‘it’s great - it’s the gang put back together’. A lot of money has been spent on failed deliverables. And bizarrely the money keeps being spent and heads of the doers keep rolling OR opting to use their legs and walk.

    IFDS you need to examine attrition rates. The managers Directors and SVPs with high attrition may need to leave in order for rates to improve. They may be what is poisoning your company

    Avantages

    Great projects. Very challenging and high profile. Met extremely talented people and proud about the respect of my colleagues because we delivered tough projects successfully

    Inconvénients

    1. The management structure within the department is constantly changing and after the new managers are brought in they rush to “re- define the roles” on the team overnight without any “ground rules” being established. This contributed negatively to both the trust and common-focus of the team building.

    2. Ongoing political agitation and a lot of micromanagement

    3. “Working in isolation” mindset and lack of open communication which impacts the progress of the work and delays resolving of the issues. In an attempt to open communication, there was very common to see the high resistance. Work in workshops and focus group meetings are not encouraged that leads to inefficiency, lack of cohesion within teams, and adds rework.

    4. It’s been challenging to stop spending money and time on redundant work due to late re- assignments that these re- assignments needed full re-planning to watch cost more carefully

    Above all, to get most out of people, you need to change your management style and believe that people are Self-led, Motivated by Appreciation, and Capable ( that is McGregor’ Theory Y). Moreover to excel, the managers and leaders need to act as an example so the effort is not diminished and the engagement is not decreasing ….. start using more good judgement. ...

    Avantages

    International Team is the best place to start. Lots of work but a ton of knowledge to gain which will help in any investment service company you go to.

    Inconvénients

    Long term vision is missing in the upper management. Operations team need some diversity within because everyone is very similar which sometimes causes a reduces the point of views on a problem.

    Please talk to you the team even if you are busy. Team leads and seniors should be get briefing every month and which should be delegated to the associates on the floor. No one should be nervous to talk to anyone. Main goal is client focus and client satisfaction.
