    Avantages

    Co-workers are fun and make the day go by easier. Close to home. Love working with my patients. Flexible work hours depending on which department you are assigned

    Inconvénients

    Middle and upper management attitude toward employees is similar to “parents” to misbehaving children. Took some “management training” classes through HR. Was shocked at the attitude of those I met. It’s all about writing employees up and documenting on your “problem” employees.

    Recognize your employees are adults and educated professionals. We would not be here if we did not care for those people we come in contact with everyday. MOST of us have solid values and good work ethic. If you have someone that doesn’t, educate them not the rest of us!

    Avantages

    I like my coworkers. Most people truly care about the patients and are giving the best care they can with the little help that management provides.

    Inconvénients

    It is way understaffed. The management doesn’t care about the staffing ratios. It is not a safe environment for nurses or patients.

    Avantages

    Great co-workes, benefits are excellent (if you use their facilities). If you are lucky to be outside of patient access the teamwork seems to be great!

    Inconvénients

    There is a lot of "do as I say not as I do" from management. Others with same job title/responsibilities seem to be favored and allowed more freedom with different rules. BMH is always changing policies/rules/job description. They will "temporarily" vacat a position but never re-fill the position so there is always an extra load to cary.

    Very stressfull on employees. Do what you say you will do. Fill all the positions that were vacated by employees that quit. The extra work is causing people to leave. Stop Playing Favorites in Patient Access! Stop changing the rules all the time! If one member of a team is allowed to do something - then all should be allowed. So much childish management.

    Avantages

    Coworkers were the best part, but they left out if there as fast as they could.

    Inconvénients

    Everything.....worst job I have ever had. I stayed as long as I did for the benefits.

    Over Worked, Under Paid, Lots of Gossip and Back Stabbing, Witnessed Horrible Bedside Manner, Terrible Management

    Put yourself directly in the patient's shoes, listen to your employee's concern and deal with them immediately- it was once said to me that handling an employee's concern was like steering the Titanic but I guess they forgot the Titanic sunk- you have to deal with concerns and grievances immediately instead of letting them go on for weeks, there's a high turnover rate and there is a good reason for that. Currently you have Tray Line techs prepping, assembling trays for patients, serving, gathering dirty trays and carts, and now monitoring fluid and food consumption for the nurse staff SMH.. You're hiring Temps at $10 an hour but you're hiring directly/permanent at $9 an hour. Also once a temp is offered a permanent position you're dropping them to $9.50! There is a lack of understanding of hazardous and biological materials, they had a contaminated c-diff bed exposed sitting right outside the kitchen multiple times! SMH Happy I left and I wouldn't dare take my family there!

    To change the culture it starts at the top! Constantly cutting the low hanging fruit is not the way to save BMH! Instead of spending $$$$$ on consulting firms problem solve yourselves. If the current administration cannot put us in the black the board should hold them accountable.

    Close to home, if you live in Maryville.
    Getting to know the residents.
    Free breakfast & lunch.

    Inconvénients

    Administration is very nice, but very clueless as to what actually goes on between dining staff and kitchen staff employees.

    Employees CONSTANTLY talk about one another behind their backs. Most come into work with a terrible attitude and it's a struggle to remain cheery with their constant sneering and backhanded comments. Some are even incredibly rude to the residents - it's embarrassing!

    Apparently most employees are brand new and turnover is HIGH. The kitchen supervisor was new and had no idea what she was doing. Definitely does not deserve the title of "chef".

    Treat employees like people, not just numbers. Speak to employees about issues directly, DO NOT rely on the word of untrustworthy co-workers. This place would be a great place to work if not for the middle school gossip that goes on CONSTANTLY.
