Days are allowed when facing urgent matters. Nobody would say anything if the reason is legit and manageable.
Quebec pays QPIP as of your mat leave start date. SLF will top up your benefit for the first 6 weeks, i.e. paying the missing 30% that QPIP doesn't pay. From that lump sum payment from SLF you can choose to have your premiums for your mat-leave's worth of health benefits paid, essentially rendering the top-up to about 0% depending on your benefit choices, but still nice to have that extra cash when you're starting a year of reduced income with a new baby
On six weeks top up
Got six weeks full paid from STD
By law you're allowed to take a year off (unpaid). Paternity leave is allowed but not paid (unless taken as vacation). Maternity leave top-up is only 6 weeks. Pretty crappy.
I know they offer it but I never had to use it.
Generous giving adequate time to spend with the family.
