They didn't offer a top-up for parental leave at all - parental leave was left up to the usual EI support provided by the government. Management was not sympathetic at all to my health issues during pregnancy and ultimately my employment with Shopify ended before I could take advantage of maternity leave. They did not renew my contract and gave no just reason why, however the young manager responsible for helping to make that decision was aware that I was pregnant and suffering complications due to a chronic illness. Not a great experience.
They pay you a high percentage of your total salary and do not make you feel guilty about parental leave with gentle return to work plans
