Long hours, inexperienced people, no dedication from some employees, no accountability
GE Canada head office has moved to a new building at Minnesota Court in Mississauga. Its a LEED building with an onsite gym, lunch time fitness classes, and a cafeteria stocked with offsite prepared meals, snacks and drinks for purchase. Benefits include a defined contribution pension plan and company stock purchase program all with company matching and vests immediately. They are flexible and allow you to work from home (depending on manager preference). Vacations are at 3 or 4 weeks depending on pay band, and you have a few additional flex days. GE offers many programs that can fast track your career at the company, exposing you to various businesses/functions which targets fresh grads. They also have an employee training centre, Crotonville, which is like a GE university for training located one hour north of New York City. Your manager must nominate you to participate in this training. The worst thing is that they are no longer offering the defined benefit pension plan for new employees.
Company respects and values employees. C&B packages are not upto market standard
GE is a fairly generous employer, and we were all generally happy with the benefits package. There is not much more than I can say about that.
One of the best benefits, though don't confuse GE with newly formed or separated businesses like BHGE that offer one of the worst.
Standard health benefit with flex spending account.
You got all the official holidays and in addition you get time off to compensate for overtime and some times flexible hours.
The best thing is the Defined Contribution Pension Plan and the Stock Savings Plan. Also the health benefits are relatively good and gives good coverage
